Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Falling For You is a colorful, and breezy, vertical, layered, landscape, depicting a stand of aspen trees in the heart of the autumn changing of the colors.

In September and October, the Colorado Rocky Mountains come to vivid life with yellows, oranges and reds, as the sunshine lights up the fall scene and breezes toss the glittering leaves.

This painting started out plein air, outside Portfolio Gallery, in Breckenridge, during a happy hour live painting and music performance event, and was later completed in Studio Moonshadow. I was experimenting and having some fun with this one, using all manner of watercolor and ink, and leaving dappled shadows on the backlit aspens, hoping to capture the joy and vivacity I feel during this, my favorite season.

These elongated canvases provide my preferred format for depicting the aspen tree treescapes native to my locale, and have the added advantage of fitting beautifully into a var...
To me, making art is about the stopping of time, as are so many of the things I most love doing. I don't believe in time as we know it. When I become engaged in creating something, I no longer feel subject to time's constricting whims. That is why I am driven to create. I love the light touch and thrilling chemistry of watercolor painting, the bold strokes possible in pastel work, the patterns I can create with an ink drawing, and learning something new, always. Color thrills me. Texture delights. I hope with each work to retain the clarity of what I see, and bring that into view for others.
